CIES 2014 “Revisioning Education for All”
March 10-15, 2014, Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel
Dear Colleagues,
CIES 2014 is on our doorsteps and proposals are due on October 5 (early-bird submission deadline) and October 25, 2013 (final submission deadline). As you might have seen, this year’s theme, Revisioning Education for All, calls for cutting-edge research on issues of equity and the right to education at all levels of learning. The Higher Education SIG, the largest of CIES SIGs, serves all of us studying, teaching, researching, analyzing, and disseminating of theory-, policy-, and practice-related issues that influence higher education.
Equity and the right to education at all levels, highlighted in this year’s CIES theme on Education for All (EFA) will provide our members the opportunity to revisit higher education learning systems and social justice. At no other level of education is inequality of access observed better than at higher levels of learning. CIES 2014 will provide our SIG the stage for critical dialogue, linking professionals and academics to re-examine critical issues of higher education. Whereas the right to quality education is considered a fundamental human right and education including higher education, is still a public good, are states/governments and institutions delivering this good? There are many questions that will be articulated in your proposals for CIES 2014 and they will serve as the SIG’s platform for our 2014 conversations. The program committee will give preference to panels and roundtables that cross disciplinary boundaries, that involve researchers from different countries and different institutions, and that connect academic scholarship with practitioners’ work. Of course all ideas and proposals are welcome.
See proposal guidelines at http://www.cies.us/2014/call.
