The end date for the Call for Papers for the Observatory’s 2009 Global Forum is approaching quickly, with only two weeks to go until the 21 March deadline (attached is the Proposal Form – we encourage you to forward it on to your colleagues).
Taking place this October in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the 2009 Global Forum,Global Connections – Local Impacts: Best Practices, Models and Policies for Cross-Border Higher Education, promises to be a highly engaging event intended to spur ideas and strategies for best practices in cross-border higher education.
Sessions will include a diverse range of concurrent sessions, research sessions, plenary keynotes and panels, with pre- and post-forum seminars taking place before and after the Forum. Pre-forum seminars include:
A Lessons from Practice: University of Notthingham’s Branch Campuses in Malaysia and China
B Social, Cultural and Gender Challenges for Cross-Border Higher Education in Developing Countries
C Legal Issues, Frameworks and Practices for Transnational Higher Education
A post-Forum seminar (limited to 40 delegates) will focus on Planning and Developing Sustainable Global Academic and Research Partnerships: Keys for Success.

The Global Forum will take place at the Prince Hotel & Residence in Kuala Lumpur (KL), Malaysia. Strategically located within walking distance to nearby attractions, including the Petronas Twin Towers, the Prince Hotel is centrally situated in the city with ready access to restaurants, museums and other KL venues. Those participants wishing to reserve accommodation at the hotel should complete the Hotel Reservations Form (attached, and downloadable from the Observatory’s website) and send it directly to the hotel’s central reservations team at:
