Invitation to Submit a Short Article to ‘Leadership in Focus: The Journal for Australasian School Leaders’
Next article submission deadlines: 26 April 2006
4 March 2006
Dear Education Colleagues,
‘Leadership in Focus’ (formerly ‘Prime Focus’) is a quarterly professional development paper-based journal for Australasian school leaders in P-12 schools (catering for students from 5 to 18-years-old). Articles in ‘Leadership in Focus’ centre on issues, trends, debates, reforms, research and developments in education (at the school, district, regional, national, State/Territory and international levels) that impact on schools and the work of practising school leaders.
We are writing to you to ask if you are able to provide an article outlining new polices and programs, legislation, trends, developments, research and education debates in your own country, State, Territory or locality that may be relevant, and of professional interest, to school leaders in Australasia.
The editorial board is seeking short articles (500-2,500 words) for forthcoming issues of the journal.
Practising principals, assistant/deputy principals, leading teachers and department/faculty heads are encouraged to submit articles for possible publication in. However, the editorial board also warmly welcomes articles of interest to school leaders written by other educators, education policy makers and education researchers.
Your own topic, based on your own area of interest/expertise (and keeping in mind current issues, trends, debates, reforms, research and developments in education and educational leadership) is most welcome.
Your target audience is, of course, practising school leaders throughout the Australasian region. Some background information about your country’s education system and/or your school may be necessary at the beginning of your article. Any recommendations you might make to school leaders, based on your experience, knowledge or research would be most appreciated.
Articles should be emailed directly to me (as attached Word files or as plain email messages) at: [email protected]
Please do not format your article (e.g., columns, borders, etc.). Tables should not be included but should be explained as text. Acronyms should be spelled out in full the first time they are used, for the benefit of interstate or overseas readers. Only short reference lists can be included. Photos, to accompany articles, are especially welcome. They should not be embedded in the article itself but emailed separately as attached JPEG files, saved at the highest possible resolution.
Prospective writers who wish to discuss a possible topic, or who would like to review a copy of ‘Leadership in Focus’ before commencing writing, should email me with their request. Otherwise, articles can be emailed directly to me and their receipt will be confirmed by return email.
Thank you for considering this invitation. I look forward to your response.
Best wishes,
Debra J. Brydon
